The Biggest Week of our Season

|

A big week looms large for West Ham after another draw meant the Hammers fell four points behind 2nd place Reading ahead of their biggest week of the season.

The Hammers have there long awaited game in hand against Peterborough on Tuesday night at London Road, followed by their biggest game of the season Reading at home where two wins in 4

days could send them back into the automatic promotion places.

The Hammers skipper Kevin Nolan was quick to call for calm saying; “there’s along way to go until the end of the season and there are plenty of points available.” Before ambitiously saying the Irons are still hopeful of catching table toppers Southampton who are nine points ahead of West Ham as things stand.

Firstly the game on Tuesday night against Peterborough away day win surely? Peterborough are none of the most inconsistent sides around. One week they thrash Reading 3-1, the next they lose

1-0 away at Barnsley, so this game is impossible to predict especially looking at our current form. The best quote I’ve found was on KUMB ahead of the game at London Road. It said; Gamewise – they seem to be a bit Max Mosley at home – thrash or be thrashed.” It raised a smile not going to lie.

But he has a point, Peterborough have the quality and home form to see of anyone. They won’t be scared of West Ham; they play passing attacking football, something which may suit the Hammers away day formation. So I’m hopeful of 3 more away day points and a record breaking 11th away day win.

Now a rallying call from myself to both the players and fans alike ahead of Saturday’s home clash against Reading. First to the players, all us fans want is you to try 110% for the shirt, play with pride for that badge on your chest, just like the 32,000+ fans at the ground would do, fly in to tackles, command the midfield, be ambitious. Do not be scared, fight for every ball. That’s all we ask for if you do all those things and we lose, we will just hold our hands up and say the opposition were just too good on the day for us. This scared to play in front of your own fans excuse has gone on long enough, play the football we like, pass the ball around, impress us and work hard and we will cheer, not groan, we will applaud your efforts.

Now my call to the fans, we need to turn Upton Park into a fortress again, a place opponents fear. Get behind our players like an away day, sing our hearts out for 90 minutes, don’t groan, and don’t get on the players back if they misplace a pass. The players will respond I’m sure of it when you look at the performances away from home when the away fans sing for 90 minutes whatever the score the players play out of their skins. At home far too often people around me groan after one mistake. An example of this, playing against Watford, their first shot in the 25th minute and a man behind me shouts “It’s Watford for Christ sake, they shouldn’t have this space, don’t let them shoot West Ham”

as if they weren’t allowed a shot all game. We used to pride ourselves on our famous atmosphere at Upton Park, what has happened. Let’s get it rocking again. And the points will be coming our way.

Come On You Irons!

cant agree more the lack of atmosphere last week was somehing all of us should be ashamed of.we expect to turn up be entertained and then shout our love for the club.instead how about making upton park the loudest groung around and scaring the opposition stupid. southampton didnt get near the ball until taylor was sent off and then it was only atrocious reffering that alowed a second rate team back into the game. if we all sang and shouted for 90 mins instead of 15 perhaps the team would play up to our expectations no down

The problem is Peterborough are a 4th rate team – unlike Saints who are a 2nd rate team.
We will have to be first rate on the pitch and in the stands from now on.

  • Saint in Malta says:

Saints – second rate??…..Oh, please!! Yeah right – Do me a favour!!
    Jeez – Get real!!
Good luck to your team anyway!! And maybe you’ll comment us a little respect when we play a certain team at home on April 13th!!

Quote BFS “We have to make sure we don’t give away sloppy goals any more and we’ve got to look to deliver eight clean sheets; I think if we do that we go up automatically.”

Oh my god, i don’t like the sound of this formation for tonight 1-8-1-1?
