Perfect day for the Hammers

|

Monday saw West Ham win 1-0 over Coventry.  No disrespect to Coventry, but the game was never really in any doubt, with West Ham dominating the proceedings.  A glance at the stats show a great disparity between the two sides in terms of shots and shots on target, with the Hammers having 14 shots on target compared to Coventry’s 3.

In all honesty, West Ham was unlucky to not score more, as it was a solid team performance with Tomkins, Collison, and Noble playing especially well. With the core of the team back in action and the return of Reid and Baldock (welcome back, boys), West Ham got back to winning ways and kicked off the new year in good fashion.

Perhaps as important as our own performance were the performances of our closest competitors, with both Middlesbrough and Southampton both losing.  Because of those results, West Ham have moved up to the top of the league, joint leaders with Southampton (who is ahead on goal difference, 19 to 17).  Congratulations are in order to both players and staff who made this feat possible, and thanks for making the start of my new year a great one.  Come on you Irons!
