An exciting 48 hours

Rumours are at a plenty as the silly season deadline is closing, the Hammers have been linked with everybody under the sun but with the clock ticking the owners are getting desperate.

The twitter world went crazy on Saturday with the link that every West Ham fan has been dreaming about the return on the prodigal son, Carlos Tevez. Although unlikely the deal that would take Carlos back to the Boleyn and would mean Tevez goes back to the club he has respected the most in England for the remainder of the season banging in the goals to get us back where we belong. The stumbling block however and it is a big one is the small matter of wages. Tevez is currently on 250k a week at Manchester city, and it is a sum that our owners could struggle to muster up. The deal would rely heavily on The Citizens to pay a hefty sum of his wages for the Hammers to get him. The rumour has been denied on twitter by Dan Silver a Hammer who writes for the Daily Mirror. However Bradley Palmer is saying it is a done deal. So who to believe? I know who my money is on and it isn’t Bradley. We can all dream though.

A rumour that is likely to happen is Nikica Jelavić the Rangers forward who was left out of the Rangers side in the clash with Hibernian due to “illness” is hopeful of a move to West Ham. It is thought the Hammers will place another bid in for him this weekend which is likely to be accepted, with Ally Mccoist having already set up a list of potential replacement for the Jelavic. A bid of around 8 million is expected to be enough to sign the Rangers man who has scored 30 goals in 45 appearances for the Gers. The rumours of his arrivals intensified when David Sullivan announced the Hammers expected to announce an important player in the next 48 hours on Thursday evening. It is thought that Jelavic will join in time to make his debut against Millwall on Saturday. What a debut that could prove to be.

Meanwhile it is thought that the Hammers are contemplating another bid for Leeds winger Robert Snodgrass after seeing an initial bid turned down. Snodgrass has been a leading star for Leeds all season and last has 18 months remaining on his contract and the Hammers are yet to decide on whether to return with a bid for the Scotsmen. Snodgrass is thought to be available for 6 million pound and the Hammers who put a test the water bid of 4 million pound last week are yet to decide on whether to move onto different targets or to put another bid in for the winger. I for one hope it’s the latter. He would bring speed and flair to our slow turgid midfield and is a goal scoring midfielder who could join Nolan in the midfielder goal scoring stakes.

Another midfielder linked is Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis Mcgugan who is thought to be available for around 1 million. He was a player not on the original list of 25 players but shone at Upton Park last weekend in his sides 2-1 defeat. Allardyce was said to be impressed with the midfielder who scored a screamer and put a bid in early last week it was said to have been rejected but Allardyce may well return with another bid early next week.

Finally a move that has been on hold for 2 weeks, Marvin Sordell of Watford the forward was subject to a bid around 4 million and the bid has yet to have been accepted or rejected with Watford waiting for more bids for the player. Sordell is a speedy forward which is what the Hammers need in order to unlock teams who sit back and invite pressure. It is thought that this one could go down to the wire but Sordell would be very interested to a move to the Boleyn.

Finally on outgoings a move that brought joy to my father and thousands of other West Ham fans alike. The termination of the contract of Herita Ilunga, the left back who had one good season at the Hammers then got a contract at the club then was one of the worst players at the club. Meanwhile the Hammers are also hopeful of shifting Freddie Piquionne and he could be involved in the deal for Jelavic.

Expect a busy week because Gold and Sullivan have been working around the clock to improve the team who are currently top of the league in order to further strengthen the Irons case for automatic promotion.

    Re Carlos

I would say that when the window is shut will be our time to get Carlos. He won’t arrive until after the window shuts as MCFC as you rightly put want rid of him. However the loan window remains open post deadline and I believe if anyone in England picks hm up it will be us. That is not saying he will get picked up but the ball is in MCFC court. Tevez has been quoted as taking a wage cut and not claiming any of the owed £millions, the real stumbling block is the cock that cost us £42 mill (Kia)
