The Last Time:The Winning Run Continues

|

West Ham play Derby County on New Year’s Eve, hopefully looking to close the gap on Championship leaders Southampton.

You don’t have to go far back to the last time the Hammers played Derby. It was November 26th earlier this season, which ended up in a 3-1 home win for us.

West Ham had to come from behind to get the win, with Tamás Priskin capitalising on a Carlton Cole error to put the Rams in front in the 34th minute. The Hammers equalised on the stroke of half time when Joey O’Brien crossed for Cole, who made up for his earlier error by heading into the back of the net.

Captain Kevin Nolan scored his first goal at Upton Park to put us in the lead 25 minutes from the end. Cole lofted the ball to Jack Collision in the penalty area who flicked the ball high in the air for Nolan who brilliantly volleyed in from 22 yards. Mark Noble sealed the win 15 minutes from time with a penalty after Frédéric Piquionne was fouled by Craig Bryson.

This was West Ham’s third league victory on the bounce, and lets hope for another win to see in the New Year.
