Green ready to wear three lions on the shirt?

|

After Robert Green’s tremendous return to the West Ham team, Sam Allardyce has recently said that Green deserves a recall to the England side. Admittedly Green has made a superb return to the squad making some fantastic match winning saves for the Hammers, but is Big Sam right in what he’s saying?

Allardyce has been quoted saying “Rob is better now than he was before the injury. He is right back in at the highest level.” However Green is still haunted by his blunder against the USA in the World Cup finals where he somehow let Clint Dempsey’s very tame effort slip through his hands into the back of the net. Big Sam has also said that England will see a new side to Green as he has came back stronger and better than ever.

Against Leicester and more so Hull West Ham’s number 1 made some fantastic saves to keep us in the game and deny the opposition. Green is currently being kept out of the side by Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart. Although Hart is a fantastic shot stopper and he has made some fantastic saves for both club and country, he is permanently playing behind a fantastic defence. With either the likes of Vincent Kompany and Gael Clichy playing in front of him at club level and then John Terry and Ashley Cole at international level Hart rarely has to make a crucial save to keep his side in the game, whereas although Green plays behind a solid defence of players like Abdoulaye Faye and James Tomkins who are fantastic players they are not high level internationals. Green often produces several saves a matchto keep the Irons in the game.

I believe he is worthy of a place in the squad before the likes of Scott Carson he may not be worthy of a place in the starting 11 quite yet as he needs to prove himself fully fit and back to the highest level of professional football.

Unfortunately, whilst Capello is England’s manager then Rob Green will not be picked. Capello doesnt like him for some reason and lets be honest Hart has made some mistakes but cos he plays for Man City nobody takes any notice of them whereas everything Rob Green does is clearly scrutinized cos he plays for West Ham. Personally I hope he stays fit for West Ham but I’m sure if called upon at some time in the future he will be ready for England. Hopefully whoever takes over the England job will see sense and give him another chance.

Yeah that’s very true ! Green is always somewhat overlooked because he plays for us especially by Capello. But as you say hopefully he will get his chance but the main thing is staying fit for us right now
