West Ham Takeover Bid Ruled Out

|

Multi-millionaire Tony Fernandes has ruled out a potential takeover bid for West Ham United, after revealing on his Twitter account that he planned to bid for 51 per cent of The Hammers shares.

The enterpreneur, who made his fortune by starting budget airline Air Asia, has rescinded his intentions however as current owners David Gold and David Sullivan reacted angrily to the rumours, and would not welcome a bid from the Malaysian businessman.

“The relationship between the owners and myself … I don’t think we are meant to be. The Hammers possibility has probably gone,” he is reported to have said in The Sun.

The former Birmingham City pair bought the Upton Park club 18 months ago, and despite relegation in 2010/11 are thought to be reluctant to sell the London club.
