Tottenham have applied to the High Court for a review into a local council’s financial loan to West Ham for the Olympic Stadium refurbishment.Spurs lost out in their bid to become stadium residents following the 2012 London Olympic Games, with city rivals West Ham edging Tottenham for the hosting rights.
West Ham and Newham Council set up the Legacy Stadium Partnership to transform the stadium, which is expected to cost between 90 and 100 million euros.
The Hammers are hoping to create a multi-purpose venue that can cater for football, athletics and concerts.
But on Wednesday, Tottenham revealed they would take the matter further after Newham failed to respond to their queries regarding the funding loan to West Ham.
A club statement read: “The club wrote to Newham asking it to explain its reasons and justification for its decision, but Newham has declined to respond to this request for information.”
“Due to the time limits which apply to claims for judicial review, the club has had no alternative but to issue these proceedings in order to protect its position.”
“The club continues to hold discussions with both local and national government bodies in order to seek to agree a feasible stadium solution.”
