West Ham manager Slaven Bilic is keen on signing Ajax defender Joel Veltman during the January transfer window, the Mirror reports. The Dutchman is a versatile player who can play at centre back, but his main position is right back.

The Hammers have struggled to find a regular first choice in the position with Michail Antonio, Sam Byram and Havard Nordtveit all filling in this season, but it looks as though Bilic has found a full back that could establish himself in the role.

Veltman is only 25 years old but has a good deal of experience in the Eredivisie with 147 appearances in Ajax’s first team as well as two league titles, and 14 caps for the Netherlands.

The Dutchman is said to be available for £8million but as the full back has just 18 months left on his current deal, the Amsterdam club could be prepared to let him go for a bit less.
