West Ham will not pursue a move for Leeds United striker Chris Wood after being put off by the Championship side’s valuation of the player, according to ESPN FC.

The website contacted sources close to the player who told them that the Hammers and Sunderland were interested but Leeds slapped a £15million price tag which proved too much for both Premier league teams.

Wood has had a good season with 17 goals in 29 appearances in all competitions. Compared to Brentford’s Scott Hogan who the Hammers have reportedly had three bids turned down for, his record this season compares quite favourably. The Bees striker is only a year younger than Wood and has scored three fewer goals (14) this campaign, but he has played three fewer games as well (26).

Whether either forward is worth close to their £15million valuation is debatable though and it maybe the case that Hammers boss Slaven Bilic looks elsewhere for a striker during this transfer window.
