Valencia Sporting Director Jesus Garcia Pitarch believes West Ham striker Simone Zaza’s wages would be the biggest stumbling block if the Spanish side make a move for the Italian international.

Speculation that the forward could leave for La Liga in the January transfer window have been gathering momentum in recent weeks but it looks as if Valencia will want to compromise on the player’s salary if they propose a bid for the 25 year old. He told Super Deporte:

“Basically the biggest challenge is that the salary that he has at West Ham is absolutely exorbitant, but that could be negotiated. I don’t know what the coach thinks about this, but if we could reduce his wages, he is a player that we can evaluate.”

It has been widely reported in the British media that West Ham have no intention of allowing Zaza to make the required 14 appearances to make the deal permanent, as they want to avoid the £20million transfer fee.

Discussions about removing the clause that obliges the Hammers to buy Zaza have been mooted but so far there hasn’t been any official confirmation from either West Ham or his parent club Juventus that an agreement will be reached.
