The Daily Mirror are reporting that West Ham are interested in signing the young Millwall player Mahlon Romeo for a fee of £1.5 million.

Scouts from the club apparently watched him perform in the Lions’ recent win over Fleetwood, the third time they have watched him this season.

He actually came through the youth system at Arsenal but decided to move down the divisions to play more first-team football and has found that with the London club as their right-back.

At 21, he has represented the island nation of Antigua and Barbuda at international level and would join a number of full-backs that are already at West Ham.

The Hammers signed the likes of Alvaro Arbeloa and Arthur Masuaku in the summer whilst Sam Byram and Aaron Cresswell were already on the books with the club.

Havard Nordtveit and Angelo Ogbonna have also featured as full-backs this season as Slaven Bilic has had to make adjustments to injuries and suspensions to many of his players so far this season.
