West Ham United told Real Madrid that they would have to pay a whopping €110million (£92.9 million) if they wanted to sign Dimitri Payet over the summer, according to Buzz Sport.

The France international put in stunning performances for the Hammers in his first season in English football, delighting the supporters and immediately becoming a fans’ favourite.

Payet also was a crucial player in the France side that excelled at Euro 2016 over the summer.

It is reported that Spanish giants Madrid were interested in the former Marseille star over the summer but West Ham met their inquiry with a frosty response.

The report suggests that Slaven Bilic’s men quoted a price tag of €110million for the superb playmaker, which sent the La Liga side running for the hills.

Payet has committed to the London club and is expected to be a driving force in the side’s efforts to have a successful campaign again in 2016-17.
