Juventus chief Giuseppe Marotta has admitted that negotiations with West Ham are at an advanced stage and that there is every chance Simone Zaza will move to the London club.

The Hammers have been in the market for a new centre-forward all summer long and have seen approaches for numerous big name targets prove to be unsuccessful.

Zaza is surplus to requirements in Turin following the signing of Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli and is facing the prospect of a season on the sidelines should he stay with the Serie A champions.

The British press have reported that a £24 million deal will make the Italy international the Hammers’ club-record signing and that the star is set to fly to England for a medical imminently.

And Marotta has confessed that the move is likely to happen after negotiations with the Premier League club.

“There are negotiations in progress and there is a good chance that they will succeed,” he is quoted by Calcio Mercato in relation to Zaza’s situation.

“The next few hours could be decisive.”

Zaza’s acquisition is much needed given recent injuries to Andy Carroll and Andre Ayew.
