Burnley are leading the race to sign highly rated Leeds United left-back Charlie Taylor according to The Mirror, despite interest from West Ham United.

The Hammers are in the market for a new full-back to deputise for the injured Aaron Cresswell, who is expected to be on the sidelines for a couple of months having picked up a serious ligament injury in pre-season.

Taylor has been discussed as one of those that could well come to the east London club to fill the void after impressive outings for the Elland Road outfit last season.

The defender is stalling on a new deal with the Yorkshire side and is being tipped to make the move to a Premier League side this summer.

West Ham have had recent dealings with Leeds through the acquisition of Sam Byram, but it is being reported that newly promoted Burnley are ready to win the race for the starlet’s signature with a £6 million offer.
