According to The Insider on The Official West Ham website, we are not considering any kind of swap deal involving Saido Berahino this summer.

The West Brom forward had been linked with the club, as he is clearly unhappy where he is. The rumours circulating suggested that Diafra Sakho would go to West Brom in exchange for the forward in a like for like swap deal.

In the Insider column, it states, “Stories emerged last week that West Ham could even entertain a swap deal involving Sakho and West Brom Saido Berahino.
But my sources have told me that the Club are not interested in that move taking place.”

This means that Berahino is a player the club are definitely not looking at this summer.

The Insider also wrote that “I have been told that the manager does not want unhappy players in the dressing room and the same rule applies to any of the fringe players who could be seeking a move elsewhere during the summer.”

Clearly this could be directly linked to Berahino, who’s attitude problems are more common than Premier League goals in the past year. A talented player, but Bilic wants a happy squad, with no players that could cause confrontation and issues among the other players.

The Insider didn’t exactly clarify any information on James Tomkin’s future at the club, but did say that all players will be given a chance to prove themselves in pre season and in Europa. Tomkins will get a good chance if he stays, and while that may be at right back rather than centre back, as a fan favourite who loves the club, it would be great if Tomkins did decide to stay and fight for his place.
