No permanent deals for these three this summer, is it a good move for the club?

Sky Sports have today claimed that West Ham won’t be signing Victor Moses, Alex Song and Emmanuel Emenike permanently in the summer when their respective loan deals come to an end.

Whilst the news doesn’t come as a shock to many West Ham fans, the timing is a bit of surprise. With Slaven Bilic and his side currently battling to finish in the Top Four and subsequently make it to the Promised Land that is the Champions League, it would have surely made more sense to keep these players fighting for their West Ham futures on the pitch rather than making the next couple of months irrelevant to the players.

Emenike has featured heavily in the last couple of months, in the middle of a striker crisis, and he has worked hard even if it hasn’t quite worked out for him yet. If Sakho and Carroll get injured before the end of the season, which is a possibility considering their individual injury concerns, Emenike will be called upon to do a job for the side once more. Will Emenike have the same desire to impress and win games for the side he knows don’t believe that he is worthy of a permanent deal in the summer?

Alex Song is a player that never quite fulfilled the potential of his early West Ham form. For the first 6 months of his original loan deal, Song was one of the best in the league and proved once again how much quality he possesses. However, he went off the boil and has only managed brief spells of form this season in his second spell. He has slipped behind Obiang, Kouyate and Noble in the pecking order and with the wages we are currently paying him it could be a worthwhile move to allow our fourth choice central midfielder to move on.

This would free up space for another central midfielder to arrive in the summer.

Victor Moses has been on various loans and needs first team football at a crucial time in his career. A chance at Chelsea is very unlikely and he hasn’t shown enough at The Boleyn Ground to stay in Slaven Bilic’s plans. His loan at Liverpool was unsuccessful but he did show signs of his former self when he played at Stoke. A move to a mid-table club on a permanent deal will be a likely destination for the Nigerian.

His goal against Manchester City at the start of the season had fans hoping for more, but with Antonio becoming a key man and Moses’ form never hitting heights where it should have, plus various injury setbacks, it is a good move all round for him to leave the club.

Sky sources have revealed this information at an interesting time. Surely the club wouldn’t have been keen for this news to spread straight away, despite the fact that the three players would probably be aware that it’s unlikely they would be in Bilic’s permanent plans. Let’s hope they still look to impress when they feature during the rest of the season.

Good luck to three players that have played their part in our success this season.
