After last week’s last gasp home draw against Norwich City, Bilic will be looking to put things right with another victory on the road again.

Next up for the Hammers this afternoon is Sunderland, a team struggling at the bottom of the table without a win to their name so far. Although West Ham’s performances away from home have been fantastic, the Hammers may encounter a different formation and a different challenge against the Black Cats.

Advocaat stated earlier this week that he will look to change formation if it will bring a change of fortunes to the club. The Dutchman is set to play more defensively this afternoon and this is something the Hammers have struggled against recently.

One advantage for West Ham could be the uncertainty surrounding Dick Advocaat’s role as Sunderland manager. If players feel that the man leading them is on borrowed time, it becomes difficult for the team to perform at their best when they know their manager could be out of the door at any second. A report from the Independent this morning stated that Dick Advocaat will resign after this afternoon’s game regardless of the result.

The Hammers will need to take the game to the opposition but they certainly have the players capable of piling more misery on Sunderland.
