Remarkably, it is two years to the day that Ravel Morrison went on THAT run to cap off a near-perfect 0-3 away victory against Tottenham at White Hart Lane.
The victory was probably one of the biggest highlights of Sam Allardyce’s four-year spell at the club as he opted for the false-nine formation against the Hammers’ rivals.
Although the tactics didn’t really work after the trip to White Hart Lane, it certainly paid off against Andre Villa-Boas’ side. The Hammers went into the game having not scored a goal away from home, languishing in the relegation zone. Tottenham had the best defensive record in the league at the time and it was looking like a monumental challenge as the Hammers had not won at Tottenham since 1999.
Goals from Winston Reid, Ricaro Vaz Te and the excellent Ravel Morrison capped off a fantastic Sunday afternoon. The 2nd and 3rd goals were scored on the counter and resembled the sort of play that has been so successful under Slaven Bilic so far this season.
Ravel Morrison’s goal against Spurs was his fourth of the campaign and it was looking as if the talented 20-year-old was about to live up to his excellent potential. Unfortunately that was about as good as it got for Morrison in a West Ham shirt but it will still live long in the memory of us fans for many years to come.
Here’s the highlights of that great performance, the first of three victories against Tottenham in 2013-14:
