Andy Carroll has told Aaron Cresswell that he needs to hit the gym as a video emerged on Twitter of the defender looking unimpressed with a tackle from the striker in training.

The big Geordie was taking part in a drill as he aims to close in on a first team return, sparking rumours that he could be available for selection against Newcastle United on Monday 14th September, the first Premier League fixture for the Hammers after the international break.

He filmed Aaron Cresswell complaining about the foul in training before joking that the left-back needed to bulk up a bit:

  Despite what looks like a pretty clean challenge, Cresswell still protested saying he was fouled whilst being caught off balance:

It’s good to see Carroll back in training but the sight of him entering physical duels on the pitch was a little too much for this fan:

Carroll scored five league goals in 14 appearances last season, playing some of his best stuff in a claret and blue shirt before another unfortunate injury halted his progress. Hopefully Andy now makes a full recovery and gives himself the opportunity to show exactly what he can do for a prolonged period of time. A goal against Newcastle would be some story, but let’s not get carried away just yet.
