West Ham fans bannerWest Ham fans have been spoilt rotten already this season.

The gleefully received gifts have included wins against Liverpool and Manchester City, an outstanding world-class loan signing in Alex Song, and potentially the bargain of the season in the form of Diafra Sakho.

But just as someone who celebrates their birthday on December 24 would still expect Christmas presents the next day – supporters should still be greedy for success despite the marked improvements already witnessed.

Heading into the festive period, there is the possibility of securing the results which would keep the team flying high.

In contrast to last year, the squad seems to be coming out of an injury ‘crisis’, as opposed diving head first into one.

Plenty of the key players have had time to recover from knocks on the side-line, and their return ensures there is strength in numbers.

Although not one to tinker and rotate for the sake of it, the depth of the squad will be very much welcomed by Sam Allardyce should the packed schedule start taking its toll on fitness or form.

So there is much cause for some Christmas cheer this year.

Coming away with something from Stanford Bridge would be a Boxing Day bonus, and wrapping up a home win against a less than convincing Arsenal three days later would be the icing on the cake.

Fans will want to see the team emerge from the Christmas fixtures still up there in the top four of the Premier League, well away from the relegation scrap.

And progress on securing Alex Song on a permanent deal would be very welcome indeed.

The team has not been gifted wins this year, the players have worked hard for the results, and the performances have been deserving of the positon the club now finds itself in.

Hopefully they can maintain that focus and continue to turn heads with the style of football and convincing manner of the wins.

If West Ham still sits in a Champions League spot going into our FA Cup run, it really will be a very merry Christmas for a lot of Happy Hammers.

Why do you all keep ignoring the fact we have a fourth striker ( and I’m not talking about Cole) who has shown he could be lethal, the few chances he has had.
Sam should find a way to give Zarate more playing time and I hope, with the Christmas schedule, three of our top stars away in Feb. And cup matches coming along, Sam gives him a fair crack, so we don’t lose a, potentially top striker
