Diafra SakhoWho are ya?

Diafra Sakho is a Senegalese striker who currently plays for Metz in the French Ligue 1 – they earned promotion back to the top flight for this season. He has had an excellent goalscoring record at that level during the last two seasons, scoring 19 and 20 goals respectively, and was voted the best player in the French Ligue 2 last season.

Big Sam – spend some money!

The 24-year-old would apparently be available for a fee of around £3.5million, but there are also a few reports circulating that a loan deal with a view to a permanent transfer could be another possibility. This may be more appealing to West Ham, who have to keep an eye on the financial fair play regulations, having already spent big money this summer.

Believability factor

A few days ago the Daily Mail reported that a transfer fee had been agreed between West Ham and Metz, and that Sakho himself was particularly keen on a move to England. They quoted his agent Willie Mackay as saying: “the fee is agreed between the clubs but Diafra is yet to agree personal terms. He is keen to come to England.”

There have also been several other websites reporting that a move is on the cards, although there is now some suggestion that it could be a loan deal rather than an immediate permanent transfer. So there is certainly truth to this story. Ultimately, it looks to be a case of wait and see; whether or not personal terms are agreed, or if West Ham are able to agree a deal with a different target they consider better than Sakho, as they are currently being linked with a whole host of other forwards.

Game-changer

Sakho is young, and has a powerful physical presence, standing at over 6 feet tall, which would help make the Senegalese striker an attractive prospect to Allardyce, as well as his superb goalscoring record.

Despite these boxes being ticked, however, it would surely be a risk to take someone from the second tier of French football, and place him straight into the speed and physicality of the Premier League, as Sakho would never have experienced football at this level before. For me, it would be preferable to get someone else in who has a proven goalscoring record in the Premier League.

you should have suggested your preferred player of same quality available?can the club afford a proven goal scorer in the market? learn to appreciate what you ve got.

Well the club believe Wickham to be that player. If they can’t get him then Sakho will be the alternative.

    Hi guys,

I’m french and i’m a Metz’s fan. Just few words ’bout Diaff Sakho. We love him here in Metz. He’s very strong, powerfull, never loose the ball and score plenty of goals! I’m sure this will be a good move for him and for you (but not for us…!).

“For me, it would be preferable to get someone else in who has a proven goalscoring record in the Premier League.”
Never forget, we provided Premier League Louis Saha (who scored in West Ham – Metz (0-1) in ’99 in Intertoto Cup!) , Emmanuel Adebayor and Papiss Cissé ! Diafra Sakho will become the fourth one who succeed, i’m sure of that !

So don’t worry, he will succeed in Premier League and that’s a very good deal for you!

I hope that your season will be better than last year ! Good luck!

I thought we had spent the budget this season, so any incoming permanent transfer would have to be paid for by selling existing squad. Would be happy to get Diafra Sakho in on loan with an exclusive option to buy.

Get sahko on loan AND sign connor wickham i say . Even for the 7 million! He’s only 21 and i reckon he’ll be one of those that matures into a great player with age if we are patient . Just look at how patience has worked with aaron ramsey ! . Sahko is a quick intelligent player . So allieviate the risk and have him on loan. Then get rid of downing, jarvis, nolan (dreaming there i know). COYI.

Get Sahko on loan, buy Connor Wickham, and Amalitano. Get rid of Vaz Te, Carlton Coal, Jarvis and Nolan. That way we will have some pace and ones for the future, oh and get some playing time for academy lads as well. We also need a centre back if we are going to play 3 across the back as cover because based on last season at least one of Reid, Collins, Tomkins will get injured.
We might just have the making of a good side, providing the tactics are not just hoofball, it just does not work as we saw last season it’s easy to defend against. Playing the passing game, with pace and mobility will give us better options, and dare I say a better style of football.
Just the last few players to get in place, and then give it a go. Onwards and upwards.
    COYI.
