The man earmarked to replace Big Sam?

Neil LennonA recent report on reputable football source site Sports Direct News, has linked West Ham United with Celtic manager, Neil Lennon, as the man who could be brought in should the club look to replace under fire manager, Sam Allardyce.

The former Leicester City midfielder has built up a good reputation with the Scottish Premier League Champions. Although they are always pretty much untouchable in the league, it’s the performances in the Champions League that has raised the profile of the flame haired Northern Irishman. His team performed incredibly at the Nou Camp early in the season, and despite his team sitting bottom of their group, they have matched the likes of AC Milan, Barcelona and Ajax.

The question is whether Lennon wants a new challenge in his career? The English Premier League is a whole new ball game to the Scottish league, and despite his masses of experience as a Premier League player, his is untried and an unknown package at this level.

I’m sure he learnt a lot from his time under Martin O’Neill, and I have no doubt that he will go on to become a good manager for years to come, however, I am doubtful about him coming in now, at a time where the club needs stability.

For me, Lennon would not be the man to lead us to safety. However, depending on Allardyce’s performance until the end of the season, he might be one to bear in mind for future.

COME ON YOU IRONS!!

If and as seems more likely with regular champions league experience on top of the domestic games that once he has improved further unfortunatly for the hammers we will be too small a club for him.

I could manage celtic to win the league. He is NOT the right man for whu. Agree with ur article. Very good piece.

Lennon is a celtic man through and through, but i doubt if celtic could match premier wages.I do not think that the money would tempt him,it would be champions league football and we are light years away from that-good choice of manager though.

Why do we need a manager from the Scottish Conference League?

we all know the Scottish premiership is poor but this guy has performed well with a small budget. He bought young unknown players from Europe’s backwater and made plenty selling them on. Champions league is guaranteed for celtic and WHU wont be there for quite some time but his European experience is key. So, he’s got good tactical experience and from what I hear, a strong European scouting network.I feel he could operate well with a premier league budget. As for bigoted comments on here about potential WHU managers/players not being a certain race/religion – why don’t you fuck off and go to Stamford bridge – c’mon u hammers !!!!
