Do Loan Players Have Their Value For West Ham?

|

Yossi BenayounLast season, we made use of the loan market in order to strengthen our team. Andy Carroll, Yossi Benayoun, Marouane Chamakh, Wellington Paulista and Emanuel Pogatetz were all loaned to us, but should West Ham United and Sam Allardyce, continue to use these types of transfer?

We have already been linked to loaning Demba Ba, Wilfried Zaha and Romelu Lukaku this summer, but would loaning players of this calibre be good for the club? After all, if we did get them on loans only, when they leave, we would have to find replacements for them. It also gives supporters false hope in that if a player on loan does well, the supporters would want to sign him permanently when it is unlikely to happen that way.

On the other hand, loaning players also gives the Chairmen the time to get funds in place to be able to sign high quality replacements. And signing the likes of Ba, Zaha, and Lukaku would hopefully push The Hammers up the league table into European football and earning more prize money for a higher finish.

To be honest, I can only see the Zaha loan being the only likely one out of the three, as Lukaku is thought to be wanted by Mourinho, and Ba is unlikely to want to give up Champions League football, now that he’s got there. And for me, Zaha is a little overrated, however, Sir Alex Ferguson is no mug when picking out a player, so if Zaha did join, he would be most welcome.

I suppose hindsight is a wonderful thing but only one was used and that was limited by injury so the loan policy was flawed.
Chamakh was a disaster, Benayoun never showed any of his skill, Pogatez was a desperation signing and he was well past it.

Why do we need to go for Zaha when we have an excellent young player to play the same role in Rob Hall?
Allardyce doesn’t seem to want to play our academy players. Why?

Hall is not good enough for the 1st team yet. Should Sam play youth players that weakens our team?

sam doesnt play our academy players because he doesnt think they are ready yet, and is far far too risky. i dont even blame him ! he played a few youngsters when we were demolished by wigan in the cup, and that was at home !!
even though i do think rob hall is a good player, i dont think you can really compare him with zaha can you ? i think it would be much better for hall to go on loan in the premier league along with other youngsters like lee and potts. as for demba ba, theres no way he’s giving up european football. if zaha goes on loan it wont be west ham it’l surely be palace ? i think lukaku could easily end up at west ham because i dont think mourinho will start him at chelsea, and lukaku doesnt want to be on the bench, he clearly wants to play. But im sure Lukaku is just a second option if Andy doesnt sign because where will he play if we have carroll ?

In a way loans work as seen with carroll last season but you cant build for the future by littering the squad with players that are not going to be around long…
