Where Will West Ham’s Points Come From?

|

Premier League badgeCan I come out now? Ok, good I was getting hot by this fire.

Having only just thawed out after yet another soul destroying, positivity sapping away day at Aston Villa I will now attempt to predict the rest of West Ham’s season.

Okay here we go, wish me luck.

Are you on Facebook? Excellent, so are we http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

It’s that time again when, if you are on a bad run team’s look behind their shoulder at teams below them begging and hoping to get to that magical 40 point mark and near guaranteed safety; West Ham are on one of those runs. The Hammers have only picked up 1 point from a possible 27 away from home in recent months and will have to rely massively on their impressive home form to secure the Premier League survival Sam Allardyce needs for his brand spanking new money spinning contract.

With Spurs and United to still play at home and Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City to play away the Hammers will have to hope they can maximise their points tally in the winnable home games in between those fixtures.

Next up is those pesky North London rivals Tottenham Hotspurs- I remember leaving Wembley on that wonderful day hearing ‘Tottenham Hotspurs we’re coming for you’, it was clear how anticipated this game was going to be. Now Spurs under Villas Boas find themselves in 4th place with a Welsh wizard in Gareth Bale ripping every team apart. But with it being Bobby Moore’s 20 year anniversary of his death being celebrated that day anything could happen, though I must admit I’m not very optimistic ahead of the clash. Prediction: 0-1 point.

Stoke away- As always a difficult place to go. Under Tony Pulis Stoke are a tough team to break down and like us very direct. Our away form recently has been nothing short of embarrassing, another tough game and pundits will label it battle of the long ball. Here’s hoping big Sam’s long ball is better than Tony Pulis’s. I think we could pick up a point and a welcome one at that. Prediction: 1-3 points.

Manchester United (H)- Again another very tricky tie. Having said that the Hammers seem to raise their game against big teams this year and in three meetings this season (1-0, 2-2 and 1-0) the Irons are only losing 4-2 on aggregate. If West Ham can keep RVP quiet anything can happen as I believe United have weaknesses at the back and in Carrick and Cleverley has a brittle midfield two. If Diame can get physical with them early doors, I believe we have a chance of a Chelsea-esque win.

Chelsea (a) – As I have already mentioned our away form has been poor all season. And even an on fire West Ham tends to struggle at Stamford Bridge. Having already beaten them this season they will be bang up for it, can only see a home win.

WBA (h) – This is the first real winnable game of the five up and coming fixtures and depending on the confidence after the four previous fixtures, the Irons should be very confident of a home win. WBA have some good players in Lukaku and Long but I have confidence in a home win. Prediction: 3 points.

Liverpool (a) – This one all depends on the mind-set of Big Sam, far too often this season the mentality of our performances away from home has been far too negative. If the Hammers are positive and play with a winning attitude there is no reason why we can’t end the Anfield voodoo we have seen West Brom and Villa do it this year why not us? Prediction: 1-3 points (ambitious but hey why not?)

Southampton (a) – A potentially massive game against a club around us, we all know what happens when one of those come about. See Villa on Sunday. The Hammers capitulate in an attempt not to lose they forget which way to shoot and pass back to a shaky Jussi. Plus I’ve pencilled this in as my last away day of the season and after being to Reading and Villa. There’s only one outcome. Prediction: 0 points

Wigan Athletic (h) – The day I believe we will secure Premier League survival. After two trips on the road it will be back to home comforts and we will win it and with ease. Prediction: 3 points.

Manchester City (a)- Manchester City will still be chasing a championship winning dream albeit a rather thin dream by this time I suspect. But I think their team will be too strong for us at the Etihad. Prediction: 0 points.

Newcastle (h) – Newcastle and the return of (8 year contract) Pards and the French revolution, they seem to be a real Jekyll and Hyde team at the moment. And like us they have struggled on the road this term. Prediction: 1-3 points.

Forever West Ham is now on Google+, so be sure to find us on there by quite simply (and rather unsurprisingly) searching ‘Forever West Ham’

Everton (a) – A tricky tie and a game I really hope we are safe by. Our away form has been our Achilles heel this year and going to fortress Goodison Park is not a place you want to go to when you’re struggling away from home.  Prediction: a point at best, probably 0.

Finally, Reading (h)- God I hope we beat them, I went up to Reading in December and their chant will live with me forever; “We always beat West Ham”. How sweet would it beat to shut them up and relegate them? Oh so sweet. Please let this happen, West Ham. Having said that I suspect we may have nothing to play for and it will be a massive game for Reading as they battle for survival. Hard to call all outcomes are possible. Prediction: 0-3 points.

All in all, I believe we will be absolutely fine this season and our fine home form will continue.

Come on you Irons!
