West Ham Player Ratings From Arsenal

|

Arsenal striker scoring against West HamThere is an old footballing cliche that is often used, “it’s a game of two halves”, and that saying has never been said truer than on Wednesday evening at the Emirates.

After 45 minutes of defending like warriors and going in level at half time it took only 12 minutes of the second half for all this to go out the window (God only knows what big Sam said at half time)

Although the saying ‘forget it and move on’ is beginning to grate on me, it has to be done the Irons have to get back to winning ways next Wednesday away at Fulham.

Anyway here are my players ratings from the game (I appreciate it is slightly old news now but I have been busy singing love songs outside Mo Diame’s window in the hope it helps him stay)

Player ratings

Jussi Jaaskelainen- 6- made some good saves in the first half and was left helpless for most of the goals, needs to demand more from his defenders though.

Guy Demel- 5- a game of two halves for the Ivorian who kept Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs quiet in the first half, the second half, like the rest of the Hammers defence, he must of took a sleeping pill as they struggled to match the skill and movement of Arsenal.

Winston Reid-5- made some vital blocks and tackles in the first period, but left to much space in the second for a free flowing Arsenal side.

James Tomkins -4- leaves too much space and tries the offside trap too often. Had a solid first half but a really disappointing second.

Joey O’Brien -5-did well to keep Theo Walcott quiet on the first half, but ran out of legs in the second and like the rest of the defence paid the price.

Matty Taylor -6- played some delicious balls into the box and helped O’Brien admirably in the first half with Walcott but needed to help the back four out in the second.

Ricardo Vaz Te- 2- The worst player on the pitch unfortunately; fails to track back and seemed lazy on the day and picked up a needless booking.

Kevin Nolan- 4- seems to be lacking in confidence, need a goal to get his spark back, works hard for the team but looks out of ideas when on the ball.

Mark Noble-5- as always Mark works hard. His tackling and tracking back is admirable but he struggles to find the killer pass.

Jack Collison-7- works hard and scored the goal that lit up what was a horrid night for the claret and blue army.

Carlton Cole-7- hard working and ran his proverbial ‘nuts’ off for the team. Just a shame he didn’t have his shooting boots on.

Manager rating -2- odd team selection! Why not start Diame? And god only knows what was said at half time.

Nolan probably got 1 for his attendance on the evening, 1 for a nice tidy hairstyle with 1950,s style quiff, 1 for moaning and badgering anyone who cared to listen, 1 for an excellent impersonation of Lord Lucan/Wheres Wally, and clearly none for anything remotely related to playing football.

Allardyces team selection was the work of a lunatic.
