Then like my dreams…

|

“Then like my dreams, they fade and die” go the lyrics to the West Ham anthem. But in contrast to the song, my dreams are not fading or dying, they are becoming a reality.

For so long I have wanted to see a West Ham team full of spirit, a team that will not capitulate under pressure, that can keep clean sheets; now we have one.

I feel that the away wins at QPR and Newcastle United, grounds where we have a dismal record, epitomise this new found spirit within the club.

Sam Allardyce deserves so much credit for instilling this spirit -remember Avram Grant and that embarrassing period?

A brief look at the eighteen months Allardyce has been in charge speaks volumes.

In those eighteen months, he has dragged us out of the Championship, winning the Play-Off final at Wembley. At the Supporters Advisory Board he said “That was my happiest moment.” Remember that he has taken charge of over 800 competitive games in all.

He has been in charge at West Ham for 60 league and play-off games, and his record speaks for itself: W32, D17, L11.

Ever dreamt about getting paid for reading about West Ham? Well now you can make dreams a reality http://bit.ly/ffc-foreverwestham-lp

I do not want to get carried away. But if Everton lose at Reading, West Bromwich Albion is beaten at home by Chelsea, then the Hammers beat Stoke City under the lights on Monday night; whisper it gently: West Ham will be fourth in the Premier League!

Gary and Meg. Calm down. I’m guessing you’re both young (not that I’m old (43). But come on guys this is is West Ham. We battled, often unconvincingly in the Championship and scraped through. Currently we stand at a dizzying height compared to what we are used to in recent years. But we’ve mostly played the weakest teams in the Premiership. Newcastle aren’t the prem’s big boys and we forced a nil all draw with Citeh at home. We’ve a long way to go with a relatively small squad. Injurys are coming thick and fast. Yes I’m utterly loving it but remember come the end of the season, all we really wanted from this year is to avoid relegation. I believe we will, and when we do I’ll be ecstatic. But I’ve been a hammer too long to get carried away by a few results. Remember, head in the clouds but feet on the ground. COYI.

Iain – I totally agree lets stay level headed about this and remember the goal is to not get relegated anything on top of that is a bonus.
