Ok so I’m going to sound very negative now, but what if we don’t get an automatic promotion place? What if… what if we don’t even get back to the Premier League to through the play-offs? What happens then?! Here’s a brief idea…

Here goes. So an obvious event that could more than likely happen is a player exodus. Greeno is already stalling on signing a new contract, and as his finishes this summer, I really can’t see him staying with the team should they remain in the Championship. Looks like we may need to make Henderson’s deal permanent! And with the loss of revenue, we could see Gold and Sullivan selling other key players such as Tomkins and Cole. But then again, most of our players seem truly dedicated to the club and I don’t think many of them would want to leave. Is that me being naive? I do genuinely think Cole would stay – cue a lot of comments saying nobody else would have him. Apparently Faubert isn’t too happy with his contract negotiations either so maybe he’d be leaving either way.
But do you know what the worst part is? We’re one of the biggest teams in this country and it just seems weird that we’re in the second tier of English football. No offence to them, but we need to be playing Manchester United, not Millwall! Ok, so maybe I’m not too worried about causing them offence. Too long in the Championship and we’ll turn into Leeds or Charlton – clubs that used to be a staple fixture in the top tier but that have now been away from the Premier League for too long. It makes me feel sad to think that we’re not in the Premier League when teams like Wigan are. On paper we should be walking the Championship. That’s not happening currently, but with our squad we can still have a surge and secure automatic promotion. We NEED to do it!

Plus, if we stay in the Championship, it looks like we’ll be playing Sheffield United next season. And we all know how much they love us! I feel like there could be a lot of tension at that game. Maybe we should bring Tev back, just for the special occasion.
