Today, Sam Allardyce told the Evening Standard that Ravel Morrison would have to wait for his debut in claret and blue, which meant that he wouldn’t be playing for the Hammers against Blackpool tonight.
But why does he have to wait? Well, here’s the official Big Sam quote: “He is lacking in first-team experience at the moment and our position, with the necessity to gain automatic promotion, means it’s a difficult team to break into.

“We have a wealth of top-quality, experienced players already available. Ravel will have to play a patient game and wait until it is the right time for us and him.”
I can’t help thinking that Ravel hasn’t helped himself as he’s already had a twitter storm around him for an alleged homophobic comment, although he claims he was simply hitting out as he had already been called that and worse by users on the site.
But is it right to make him wait? Well, I’m not sure that it is. Especially since we’ve got Kevin Nolan and Matty Taylor suspended, and so there should be opportunity for him to make his mark in midfield. Also, as we’ve given Nicky Maynard and Ricardo Vaz Te starts tonight, and I can’t help thinking that we could have given Morrison a chance as well.

Ravel told Sky Sports News: “I can feel myself getting sharper and stronger with each training session.
“I’m not sure how long it’ll be until I’m ready for the first team but I’m looking forward to it when it happens.
“I was at the Southampton match the other night and it was a great game. Robert Green was superb and pulled off some world-class saves.
“The atmosphere was electric and I’m looking forward to playing in front of the crowd even more now.”
Also, he had amazing playing reviews at Man United – it was only his attitude that meant Sir Alex wasn’t willing to continue his Old Trafford career. So surely it would be worth giving him a chance to see what he can do at Championship level?

I really think that if he shows willing to improve on his attitude and the stuff behind the scenes, there shouldn’t be any reason why Big Sam can’t play him and try him out as soon as possible.
Plus, if he’s got more playing time hopefully that means less Twitter time and therefore less trouble time!
What do you lot reckon? Do you think that he should be given a chance or made to wait? Let me know by tweeting @alwaysintune.

So who would you have dropped for last night’s game so Ravel could play? No- I can’t think of anyone either.

Could’ve put Tomkins in the back four instead of being in defensive midfield replacing Faye.. so that free’s up a spot for Morrison.

If we can put a bit of distance, at least between us and 3rd, I’m sure youngsters will get a fair few chances.

You dont just “find a spot” for someone for the sake of it, especially if, as is the current case, the team are performing well both individually, and more importantly, as a unit. And for that reason Kevin Nolan should expect no more than a place on the bench at best. The inclusion of Maynard and Vaz Te has given the side a real injection of pace and flair, two ingresdients weve been sadly lacking this season. More of the same please, and lets get rid of this safety first defensive attitude. The new attacking formation simply tore Blackpool apart and I dont think many teams upcoming will relish the prospect of defending against us. COYI !!
